How to Make Buras/Burasa



Burasa or Buras is one of special food from Bugis culture in South Sulawesi, Indonesia . Made by rice and coconut milk which is similiar with “ketupat” and “lontong” even there are special things that make them different such as the way it cook, additional ingredients, and the way it’s wrapped.
According to the traditional recipe, all you need are:
1 liter of rice
3 pieces of bay 
¾ liter of coconut milk
Salt 
Some Banana leaf which is cut to square
Thin rope or raffia
Firstly,  wash the rice then stemed it until the rice is half cooked. Half cooked rice is put in a basin then add ¾ liter of coconut milk, 3 pieces of bay, and salt to taste. After the ingredients are put, the half cooked rice is stirred until the cocnut milk is sink in.
Secondly, get some banana leafs then put two or three spoons of half-cooked rice on it. the half-cooked rice is wrapped by folding the leaf into a little flattened square. The half-cooked rice that is already wrapped known as Buras. Buras is tied with other buras about two or three by using the thin rope or raffia. After that cook the tied buras for four until five hours. Then buras is already to eat.
