65 million years ago, an asteroid made its way out of the belt and sped toward Earth. It turned red as it entered the atmosphere, and then it sped past, missing the planet entirely. Millions of years later, two Apaterosauruses named Henry and Ida are busy cultivating a field next to a river at the base of Clawtooth Mountain. Henry sprays the crops with water from his mouth, when Ida calls out, "It's time!" She has a large egg and two small ones in her nest, and the small ones hatch first, giving them a boy and a girl, Buck and Libby. The large egg still doesn't hatch, so Buck hits it with a stick. The top pops off, and they look inside and see a tiny dinosaur clinging to the egg. Slowly, Arlo climbs out and tries to walk, awkwardly falling over at first. Henry shows them all the farm and the mountain, saying they will all take care of it together.

At the age of five, Buck and Libby are helping out with the chores, but Arlo's fear made him hate his chore of feeding the chickens. Ida puts a bucket of corn around his neck and coaxes him into the coop. But after entering he was attacked by the Chickens and frightened and almost fell into the river. Ida tells him he should make his mark, and he presses his foot down in the mud and stamps it on a rock, then places it on top of the silo. He tells Ida to make her mark, since she made the cabin, the fence and three children. Henry tells the kids they have to earn the right to make their mark, by doing something big, for something bigger than themselves. When they are ten, Buck and Libby have earned their marks by clearing trees and plowing a field. But Arlo still hasn't done anything to earn his mark. Arlo is determined to complete his chore, but Buck plays a prank on him, scaring him off before he can finish. Henry decides to take Arlo out into the field at night, telling him to walk to the middle. A bug lands on his nose, and he screams for his dad. Henry walks up and blows on the bug, revealing it to be a firefly. "Sometimes, you gotta get through your fear to see the beauty on the other side," he tells Arlo. Then he waves his tail through the grass, causing more fireflies to pop out. Excited, Arlo does the same thing. Then Henry tells him that he has a special chore for Arlo, so he can make his mark. The next day, Henry takes Arlo to the silo and tells him that there's a critter climbing over the fence and stealing the corn. He tells Arlo that his chore is to catch it, then shows him how to build a trap with a rope and net, and an ear of corn on the ground for bait. Using a pumpkin for demonstration, he tells Arlo that when he smashes the critter with a mallet, then he will be able to make his mark. At that moment Arlo was guarding his trap to get his mark, and the trap went off. After Arlo saw it, suddenly a human child was about to attack him. But Arlo released the trap and let him go, which made his father angry and then chased after him. Arlo traces the slippery slope that makes him fall and injure his leg. Not long ago suddenly flood came and hit his father who caused his father died. After his father died, Mother Arlo was very sad and could not work alone, and Arlo was very sad to see her mother and determined to help her mother. And at that moment Arlo brought corn to his storage and saw the human child or Spot that caused his father to die was in it. Arlo then tried to catch him and Arlo fell into the river with the son of man. After the incident, Arlo and Spot finally make friends and adventure together to find a way to go home.

On the way, Arlo got many obstacles and tests began in the capture of the little boy that happened resistance between Arlo and Thunderclap. Arlo was victorious, but the flood came back and hit both. The day has passed and Arlo and Spot return to continue their journey and meet Dinosaurs named Nash, Ramsey, and Bubbha. Arlo is assigned to search for the hunter's predator for the livestock of the dinosaurs, and at the time of meeting Arlo is then ordered to shout amidst the prairie to lure the predator out of its nest and finally there is a battle between the predators with Arlo and the three dinosaurs . By then, the first snow was falling, and Arlo said they needed to go home, prepare food for the winter. The next morning, T. rexes herded longhorns, and when a group split, Arlo ran forward and snapped. From the tree with its tail to force them back. Going to the slope, Arlo saw the peak of Clawtooth Mountain, and T. rexes said goodbye to him. When Arlo approached the house, he let a happy howl, and Spot joined him. Suddenly, they heard someone else howling back. Arlo could not bear the thought of losing Spot, so he spooned Spot and walked back to the river. A storm came in, and Arlo's legs were trapped in the mud. Looking up, he saw the pterodactyl fly. They fly and attack Arlo with their wings, and Thunderclap snatches Spot on the claws. The other two switched to Arlo, who tried to retreat, but he lost his balance in the mud and fell into the thorn bush beneath. He tries to be free, but the bush tightens around him. Unable to get to Arlo, pterodactyl flies after Thunderclap and Spot. Arlo tries once more to free himself, but a stone slips off and strikes his head, knocking him unconscious. When he came, he saw someone cut the bushes in half, and realized it was Poppa. He tells Arlo that they must go home, but Arlo wants to save Spot. Poppa kept walking forward, and Arlo yelled at him to stop. Then he saw that Poppa had not left any footprints. Arlo tells Poppa that he has to go save Spot, because he loves him. Poppa says he knows Arlo has it inside him, and then fades into the rain. Arlo is still entangled in thorns, but with a new determination, he breaks them one by one, and he chases Spot.Arlo climbs the mountain and howls Spot, and he hears Spot howl again. He sees Spot inside a hollow tree, surrounded by pterodactyl. They whack the tree, trying to get Spot out. Arlo wears and pterodactyl into the river. Thunderclap and the others lifted Arlo into the air, and cast a howl from a tree. Thunderclap flies to Spot, which goes deeper into the tree. Still in the air, Arlo hit a tree and knocked him down, landing on the pterodactyl. Arlo fell to the ground, and another pterodactyl flew toward him. Arlo grabbed a tree with his tail and thrust it into the pterodactyl, dropping it into the water. Arlo sees Thunderclap still attacking Spot, so he runs and gives off a loud roar, scaring Thunderclap. Ets drifting. Arlo tries to save her, but she can not get far enough. The flood caused the debris to fall, dropping Arlo into the river. Struggling for a swim, he sees Spot unconscious inside a drowning tree. Arlo accompanied him, heard the waterfall in front. When he reached Spot he circled around Spot and they both crossed the edge. At the bottom, Arlo pulls Spot out of the water, and Spot opens her eyes. Arlo lowered his head and breathed a sigh of relief. The next day, they went back home, when they heard the howl of a human. They saw a woman and two children join her on a hill. Arlo is slowly approaching, and Spot jumps off his back. The father sniffed Spot and rubbed his hair, and the family crowded around him. Spot jumps onto Arlo's back, ready to keep going, but Arlo pushes him away. Arlo draws a circle on the ground around them all, and Spot understands. Hug Arlo Spot and say goodbye. The current goes all the way alone, seeing the farm in the distance with the harvest still on the ground. Momma, Buck and Libby are tired, but keep working. Momma looked up and saw Arlo walking toward her. "Arlo!" She cried, and they all ran and hugged her. At the top of the silo, Arlo's mud bow stands right next to a poppa tree. Arlo has done something great for something bigger than himself, and he's home.

In my opinion the presentation in this film is very memorable for me, because the editing process is very suitable and the storyline is very motivating and moving. Especially fitting in the last part of the story is very touching heart that makes my eyes teary. This film is for me worth to show because in it there are moral messages that are very good for the motivation and also the content of this film can be said interesting, the animation is also not boring to the watch so as to attract the interest of people who watch it . So essentially this film is good for the movie, especially for teenagers to the top. In addition can be made in the media to learn, the messages can also be made in the motivation and spirit to achieve something that wants to achieve. Like the spirit shown by Arlo, a small Dinosaur who struggled to get his mark by doing good things like the message his father gave him.
